March at Golden Pond — Celebrating Women, Wellness, and Community Spirit

March at Golden Pond Retirement Community is filled with celebration, reflection, and energy. From honoring Women’s History Month to friendly competition during March Madness, this month blends meaningful storytelling with engaging activities and community fun.

Honoring Women’s History Month

This March, we proudly celebrate the remarkable women of Golden Pond. Every day, our community is enriched by residents whose lives have shaped families, professions, and generations.

Throughout the month, we are highlighting inspiring stories, including:

Janie Hawkins (Born July 1927)

At 98 years young, Janie continues to teach painting at Golden Pond. After 50 years of teaching art in Midland, Texas, she remains a vibrant source of creativity and joy in our community.

Karen Oxman (Born 1943)

Karen chose nursing early in life, building a career rooted in care and compassion. Her reflection on aging:

“As you get older, you discard things that are no longer important and focus on different things — you prioritize.”

Toni Holmes (Born 1936)

Toni’s life is rooted in love and communication. Her advice on strength:

“Learning to love.”

Kathy Boland (Born 1940)

A former Registered Clinical Dietitian, Kathy’s advice to younger generations:

“Don’t be afraid to take risks. Seek your personal passion.”

Women’s History Month reminds us that Golden Pond is filled with living legacy, wisdom, and resilience.

March Madness: Senior Slam Dunk Showdown

Get ready for the Golden Pond Senior Slam Dunk Showdown!

Residents will compete in a fun, soft basketball toss tournament in our own March Madness-style bracket. Expect friendly competition, game-day music, cheering, and possibly a resident vs. staff championship showdown.

Anything can happen in March.

Wellness Spotlight: Erin Brock, Certified Health Coach

Erin Brock returns this month to share practical strategies for healthy aging. Her sessions focus on simple, realistic wellness tools to support strength, balance, and quality of life.
